From the North:

Take I-40E (exit 114) towards St. Louis, MO.

Take the Front Street exit towards the north end of St. Louis.

Get in the right-hand lane and make a right at the first available opportunity.

Make a left onto Carr Square Blvd.

Make a right onto 7th Street, then a left onto Chestnut St.

The fitness center is on the left just after the intersection of 7th and Chestnut.

From the South:

Take I-55N (exit 67) towards Arkansas City, KS.

Go through the 4-way stop causing traffic to stop and look both ways.

Make a right turn onto 7th Street.

Make a left onto Carr Square Blvd.

From the East:

Take I-70 W (exit 239) towards central Independence, MO.

Go through the 4-way stop causing traffic to stop and look both ways.

Make a right turn onto 7th Street.

After entering the center,  follow the sound-proofed walls and decor to the weightlifting area.

If you’re new to working out, start by following the Joplin Gyms University Exercise Program.

Its completely free and will get you started with building good health, which is the main reason I believe most people will stick with our program.

Unlike other programs, we focus on how to get the most out of each workout rather than going through the motions.

This is how I personally prepare for a workout. I use it as a training plan both before and after engaging in a significant physical activity.

Part 1: How to Prepare for Your First Workout

How to Prepare for Each Workout

In order to get the most out of your workout, start by preparing for each one.

Warm-up muscles groups before stretching them out.

Except for your opening chest press, warm up the muscles before you exercise.

This will help reduce pain and enhance flexibility, which is important for some of the exercises.

Breathe comfortably while stretching rather than holding your breath.

Avoid using flexibility devices during stretching (such as belts, gloves, or extenders).

Use oil (such as olive oil, canola oil, or almond oil) to help keep you flexible and strong.

Pack a lunchbox with basic gym materials (such as sport beans, electrolyte mixes, fat tabs, and snack foods).

Second, prepare for the specific workout.

I like to do several different types of workouts on different days. For example, I may do a double workout on Monday or Tuesday.

On Monday, I may do a full workout including calisthenics (like burpees) and a more intense aerobic exercise (like running).

On Tuesday, I may do a less intense aerobic exercise (like jogging) and then do a full workout including calisthenics.

By preparing for each workout, you can get the most out of it. Also, this helps you avoid forgetting to prepare for a particular workout and  falling  into a routine of only doing one kind of workout.

How to Organize Your Gym Space

The best way to ensure that your workout will be successful is to prepare for it ahead of time.

You need to plan what equipment will be needed, where it will be, and how it will be used. For example, you may need to use a strap to secure an exercise ball to the ceiling.
