In the midst of the worldwide pandemic going on during the early 2020 season. Many Oklahoma City gyms have been force to close by the order of the government. This is a product of a strategy called social distancing. Social distancing basically means isolation from all social gatherings such as gyms, coffee shops, schools, and churches. This way of fighting the spread of the Coronavirus has taken a toll on a lot of these kinds of businesses. While many would argue that this strategy is dumb, it does allow for people to find variety and alternate solutions to their everyday living. This is a great time to be creative and make a workout plan that fits your exact desires.

One of the many ways that social distancing can be beneficial to the fitness world are home workouts. The benefits of home workouts are that it saves time, reduces cost, is flexible, you can go at your own pace, and maintain your privacy at the same time. When it comes to saving time you don’t have to wait for somebody to be finished with the squat rack or neither do you have to travel across the gym in order to work on a certain muscle group. One of the best benefits of home workouts is that it’s free. You don’t have to worry about hidden fees in many Oklahoma City gyms’ memberships or worry about keeping up with this monthly expense.

Another advantage of home workout is that you can work out on your own schedule and not worry about a gym’s hours. And you don’t have to worry about traveling to and from a gym if you are on a tight schedule. When it comes to home workouts, there is no pressure on you to lift the same amount of weight. Or run at a certain speed do to others at the gym as well. Last but not least is the beauty of privacy, you can do your workouts blasting your favorite song while doing your favorite exercise that many will turn put a frown on.

If you would like to build your upper body while staying at home. There are many exercises to accomplish this goal. For example, decline press up. All you have to do is place your feet on a chair with your hands on the floor in front of you. Next, you lower your body until your chest almost touches the floor and you press your body up to its original position while squeezing those chest muscles. Next is a dumbbell standing shoulder press. With this, you position your feet a shoulder-width apart while holding two dumbbells of your choice with an overhand grip at shoulder height.

Next, you press the weights above your head until your arms are straight and repeat as desired. Lastly, is the simple dumbbell curl. Position your hands horizontal to your body and pull the dumbbell towards your shoulders while squeezing your biceps. If you don’t have dumbbells for these exercises, simply use whatever you may find. For example, you can use a water jug, a backpack full of rocks, or even frozen bags a food. Don’t put all your eggs in one basket with Oklahoma City gyms, your muscle gains can be made anywhere.

Next on the list, are home workouts for your abs. Now, this may be a little bit easier to do because there are very few abdominal machines in many Oklahoma City gyms and gyms everywhere else in the world. The first exercise is an oblique crunch. All you do is lie on your back with your knees bent and feet on the floor. Then you crunch your abs by rotating your right shoulder into your left knee and alternate.

Next, are side planks. These are pretty simple as you prop your body up facing sideways while putting your weight on your forearm. You hold this position for a minute on each side. This is a great workout because it can prevent lower back pain while strengthening your hips and back. Lastly are Russian twists. Position yourself by sitting down and laying back just a little bit. You next twist at your torso while holding some form of resistance. you can use a resistance band, a dumbbell, or a weighted medicine ball.

The last thing on your home workout to-do list are your legs. The first exercise are squats. A very simple and compound exercise that gets you the results you need. Fishing your feet hip-width apart and you bend your knees while pushing your hips back trying to get as low as possible. You drive up through your heels to stand up and repeat. Another exercise is jump ropes. You may want to do this exercise in your garage, outside, or anywhere that is free from furniture and valuable items.

This exercise works out your calves just as much as the rest of your legs. And once you start feeling the burn push through. your final at home leg workout is stiff leg deadlifts. This is for both your glutes and hamstrings. You can use some dumbbells or another alternative form of resistance. You will hold some form of weight in both hands with knees slightly bent and back straight. Next, you will bend at the hips to lower the weight until you feel a stretch in your hamstrings.

Now that you have a couple of workouts to add to your exercise to-do list. You should be able to continue to chase your fitness goals. Millions across the globe have taken this challenge of a new atmosphere. And new rules and haven’t let it cancel their exercising time. Oklahoma City gyms have been in a rough patch lately. But when this time passes over, it is important to find a gym that allows you to have most of the same benefits at your home. Here at Colaw Fitness, we can supply these needs by providing $5 a month membership, 24-hour access, a friendly atmosphere, and private showers.
