Hello, this is Charles Colaw on that. You can do this podcast. And today I’m going to talk about six things you don’t need to get fit. It really is simple and I to get in shape and to really change your body,
They dropped body fat tone up, improve your heart health and improve your muscular strength and muscular endurance. And I was actually going through an article that kind of challenged me to go or to go over this. It was an article saying basically six things that you do not need to get fit. The article is off of C net.com healthy. Don’t buy these things for your new year’s resolution.
And this, what it’s talking about is basically talking about things you do not need, but you can still get in shape. I’m going to go through the article and give my take on it. I want to remind you guys that anytime you’re doing fitness, 70 to 80% of your success is your food plan, your dietary program, what you’re eating, what you’re putting in your mouth. So making sure what you do in the kitchen, how to prep and plan and make healthy foods is really 70 to 80% of your success.

So anyways, when I go into this article, I jumped into it. It starts off by talking about kind of like a lot of new fads and things that are out there that are like, Hey, you’ve got to do this to get in shape.
And first off for 2021, it talks about this new year’s resolution. Number one, it says you do not need expensive supplements to get healthy. Most of the time, if you, unless you have some sort of nutrient deficiency you really don’t need a lot of vitamins and supplements. Now I do like to top off my fuel tank with a good multivitamin and some other things like fish oils and so on.
I am 40, and I do want to do some preventative health stuff, but you don’t absolutely need it, a good, healthy diet and working out does make a big transition. And so you don’t have to have crazy expensive supplements to get a lot healthier. And I do agree with this article, but there are some people that there are benefits to taking some of your really getting on something, but you don’t absolutely need it.
Second thing he talks about is that you do not need high-tech gym Oklahoma City equipment to get fit. So they have a picture of all these new, you know, like a, the tonal board. That’s a workout thing. You can actually have a little trainer that the arms that go on the wall and, you know. Just a lot of money that you have to buy and hook it up to your house and do all these fancy workouts and so on. You don’t absolutely need that stuff.
Really don’t need a Peloton. You don’t need to have some sort of crazy expensive home equipment to get in shape. So I do agree with that. So anyways, I think that’s very true as well, and they go into, you know, making making sure that you can keep it simple and you still can get great results if you’re on a budget and things like that, you can still be very successful and it talks next part, it says, you do not need a gym to get fit.
I do agree with that. And I’d say if you’re within about five to 10 miles of that gym Oklahoma City would probably be the best deal to get a membership now. So I know that membership rates can be cheap enough that you can, I think they could be worth it, especially if you use it. But you don’t need it. You could work out at home. You could just do 30 minutes of, you know calisthenics type exercises. I’ve done a podcast on that, and I’ve done the videos on that, where you can do home workouts.
And so that can be effective as well. So but you do not need a gym Oklahoma City. And I do agree with that. Next one. It says you do not need fancy workout recovery devices. It has in this picture, it has a Norma tech and it’s like a cooling thing that you put on your legs and and foam rollers and all sorts of crazy massage, vibrating things.
And so on that you can spend thousands of dollars with you don’t need all that stuff. Those are just extra accoutrements for people that are, you know, really into that stuff. So you don’t need that. I do agree with that and says, you don’t need the greatest, most expensive athletic gear. You know, all these, you know, fancy leggings and tops and stuff like that. Don’t absolutely have to have that either.
You can keep very, very simple clothes that are just a loose fitting that you can do your exercises. And I do agree with that. And it says you do not need a water bottle to tell you how much to drink. I do agree with that as well. So the, the big thing is, is a, you don’t need that, that those are great things that can help add to the workout, but you can basically, if you’ve got a will, you got away, and I do agree with that.
So I wanna encourage people that if you’re not exercising, you can start exercising right at home, just doing home workouts. You can even Google just home workout routine and started doing that. And if you feel comfortable, comfortable with going to a gym Oklahoma City, I do encourage you to start using the gym and starting getting educated in a fitness environment. One thing is, is probably 13, 20 says, walk with the wise and become wise, walk with a fool you’ll suffer harm.
And so what that means is like who you put yourself around, influences you. So walk with the wise become wise. If you surround yourself with people that are into fitness, like at a jam and encouraging you at Colaw fitness, you would have better results because you become what you’re around. I mean, tell me who your top five friends with, who they say in business, like, tell me who your top five friends with.
I’ll tell you where you’re going to be in the next five years. So if you have really good business friends or fitness friends, you’re going to become more like that because you’re around them a lot. So in the article it talks about what do you need to get fit and healthy? It says 30 to 60 minutes, three to five times a week for exercise. I agree with that. The next item, it says seven to nine hours of restful sleep each night.
I do agree with that. Some people are more, some people are less. I can generally do six. If I get more than eight, I kind of get sleepy. So seven or eight is probably perfect for me, probably more like seven, six and a half to seven is probably good for me, but everybody’s different.
It says healthy meals and snacks are a deal with ample PR ample produce and protein. Well, that’s exactly how we write up our CF30 plans. It’s meat and vegetables that are higher protein, rich foods are lean meats and a high fiber base STEM stock leaf vegetation.
So a sorry for any of the diet plans that I’ve, I’ve written up for even the top ones out there far as in like paleo makers, South beach point systems if you’re a bodybuilder fitness competitor, they all from really go down to the STEM stock, Lee veggies, like green veggies and lean protein sources and so healthy meat meals that they say and snacks that have ample produce and protein. I do agree with that.
That is really the best type of diet. I’ve told people before, like, Hey, think about, you know, 50 or a hundred or 300 years ago. If you’re some sort of, you know, living off the land, you actually, you know, like hunt or look for some sort of animal to hunt for fish for. So it’d be a higher lean protein source. You might eat eggs or something from an animal, or you also would eat seasonal vegetation.
So it’d be a lot of the STEM stock and leaf vegetation. And then the seed in the root would be, or sorry, the seed and the fruits would be more seasonal. So at that would become a high fiber, higher protein, rich diet, which I believe that all of this are mainly made to be eating more of that type of thing, which is very low-glycemic. It helps your body actually really get into ketosis, state or fat burning state.
And I’ve never heard somebody say, I got so fat off eating extra chicken breast and green beans. You know, it just doesn’t occur to get fat off of us low insulinogenic foods. Those are just the best foods to stay lean, stay muscular and fit. So adequate water intake is where they talk about. I do agree with that. So the things that they say that you do need is 30 to 60 minutes of exercise, three to five times for a week.
I agree. They say seven to nine hours of restful sleep. I do agree, and I say healthy meals and snacks that have ample amount of meat and veggies. And I do agree with that and they say adequate water intake and adequate is I would say I told my clients to get at least 16 ounces every three hours, because they are active and exercising. And I really want to make sure they’re hydrating and they’re also flushing.
So they’re when they urinate or basically go, go pee or go to the bathroom it’s clear or, or has a very slight yellow tinge that also flushes your kidney. Water’s your number one, antioxidant detoxifier. So anyways, water is an amazing thing. Also muscle tissue, 80% of muscle is water, and there’s like 65 or 67% of your total bath and body mass is water. And think about it.
A doctor will say, Hey, you’re sick. What’s the best thing to do, drink more fluids, drink more water, drink, more water, water, water, water. So water is excellent. So anyways, that’s pretty much it on this article. I want to give you guys some action steps. So if you want to be successful for fat loss and muscle gain and that kind of stuff, and getting in shape and being comfortable in your skin or looking good in your clothes.
