Hey, this is Charles and Amber Colaw here with the, you can do this podcast. We are super excited today. I’m Charles. I read a really good article on Manoj. Dot. MD. It’s M a N a. Dot. M. D. I’m on women’s health and fitness and got some really interesting facts that I’m going to say we probably knew, but again, every time I read them like it makes me, yeah, it is surprising. And I think sometimes it can be surprising for us because we are in the fitness industry and in fitness facilities a lot.

So we see the women who are exercising and then I forget about so many who are not. So here’s some facts. They did a national health survey and there’s, here’s six facts that they showed. Okay. More than 50% of women, 50% so more than 50% of women that are 18 and older do not meet the federal physical activity guidelines for a robotic activity.

Over half. The women that are 18 years and older are not getting enough exercise for the three for this criteria saying healthy adults. So basically half of women aren’t getting enough exercise. So okay women, that’s over half of this. Come on girls, we can get it. We can do this

To more than 38% of us women over the age of 20 are obese, more than 38

So that’s, if you think about it, you’ve got 10 people lined up, four out of 10 that’s almost half. And over the age of 20 that’s not very old. At 10 years old, they’re already clinically obese. That’s not like overweight.

Not not girls, not five pounds. This is not the 10 pounds you wish you could lose.

Yeah. This is, this is where it’s becoming a health concern of weight. That’s hard on your body, your organs, your health, your respiratory system. So you’re saying almost like basically four people out of 10 are, you know, basically over 20 are obese. That’s a, that’s a lot.

That’s all a lot. Okay. Number three, the leading causes of death for women in the U S include heart disease, cancer and chronic lower respiratory disease. Yes. Again, all relating back to their fitness, health and exercise, right? Proper

Nutrition. Just not having good habits far as in like nutrition and exercise habits. When I would study, basically I’d speak at schools, heart attack, stroke, diabetes, all of those are correlating with nutrition and lack of exercise. And in the U S I mean it is prevalent that all of the top killers are directly related to poor nutrition and lack of exercise.

Nowadays, it’s like our society has got all these accoutrements and all of these technology things and all of these fun things to do that are now not getting us exercising, not keeping [inaudible].

Right. We’ve got all the new fitness apps out there. You’ve got YouTube, you can Google search, you can find any and every diet workout. It’s all out there. It’s for free. But the thing is we’re not doing it. You physically have to put these things into action in your life. So, okay, here’s another one when you visit Arlington TX gyms for fitness.

In my mind, I think it’s cool to know that all of those top issues, killers and so on are reversible just by eating better and exercising. And I remember Cooper Institute where I’ve got like about five certifications through, they talk about even 20 minutes of doing cardio, like walking on the treadmill at your target heart rate, just 20 minutes, three times a week.

That’s only one hour a week drops the chance of heart attack and stroke and all these top killers by by threefold, there’s like 300% decrease in chance of that because it cleans out the circulatory system, gets the body going and actually makes your circulatory health better, which basically benefits this, that, that a third main issue, just address heart disease and so on.

So okay, here’s another 20 million women suffer from eating disorders. 20 million. That’s too many.

I believe that. I mean if you think about women, they’re supposed to be thin and fit and they have all these different magazines. And all these different TV shows and all these different ads that they put out. And they kind of portray it almost like in an unhealthy way, being, you know. Skinny mini and all these different things. And so if you’re looking at all that stuff and you’re doing all your Pinterest stuff and you’re doing all your social media stuff. So visit the Arlington TX gyms today to learn more.

Lots of Instagram, lots of Pinterest, will they do a lot of comparing, right? Oh, absolutely. And you see all the help, the pictures of the healthy food, the pictures of, you know, like fitness, like an athletic attire. Like that’s what’s in like, it didn’t use to be that way. And now with all the social media and everybody posting, you know, all the newest leggings or so they want the look, they want the food and they become so compared to so many other women.

Yeah. On that eating disorder. I remember training in Dallas. One of the clients that I had, like women would talk to me about eating disorders. It’s like they would like like basically to have a lot of bulemia they would eat. And then they would, you know, throw it up and things like that. And it is a lot more prevalent person. When I first started training, I didn’t see this as much, but it was amazing to see how much that is occurring. And it really made me, made my heart sad.

Right. And, and we’ve seen this we have a daughter who’s a nine year competitive gymnast and you see different sports and they’re required to be thin or you know, a lot of coaches cause some of these issues. But yeah, I think it’s just, it’s heartbreaking. So okay, the next one, women are twice as likely to experience depression as men. And again, that absolutely breaks my heart. And so we, we talk all the time about mentally, physically, and spiritually.

We want to help you. We want to help you get on track. Want to give you a good plan, we want to encourage you. So this article kinds of kind of sends it up with the same thing we always say. So some of these health factors are beyond your control and we know that. But there are a number of things that women can do to improve their overall health and fitness level. At Colaw Fitness Arlington TX gyms we will provide nutrition instruction free with your membership.

So the three things they recommend align with what we always say, one exercise to having a healthy diet or following a good food plan and three, prioritizing good mental health. And Charles, what’s, what’s our favorite proverb that ties in with that?

Well my, yes, our favorite property is the is Proverbs 13:20 and this is Proverbs 13:20 those who walk with the wise become wise but a companion of fools suffers harm. So it’s basically saying who you put yourself around, those who walk with the wise become wise. So if you put yourself around people that are fit, positive, motivated, encouraging people, you’re going to become more like that.

But also if you’re a companion of somebody who is a fool or somebody that’s a negative thinker, not optimistic or if you could even be a family member or a friend that’s like kind of demotivating you. So I want you to challenge yourself to really, really walk with the wise, surround yourself with people that are positive, motivating, upbeat.

Encouraging people to help you reach your health and fitness goals. Take action over emotion. A lot of times you’ll feel like you don’t want to do it, but taking action then resets that and getting started. So Amber, give us some good call to action. How can we, how can we do that?
