Hey, there’s a super stars this is Charles Colaw on the, you can do this podcast today. I’m going to talk about my story from going three Oh three from 303 pounds to 220 pounds. And I’m going to focus in on eight reasons why that you need to add fitness into your lifestyle. So in high school I was wanting to gain weight and put some size on it. And I did, and I ended up getting him to three to three and I blew up my knee my senior year and needed to lose some weight. So I lost 83 pounds with a trainer. He helped me with the diet and a workout. Anyways, went from 303 to two 20, ended up competing in a bodybuilding show and all that to say, my confidence went through the roof when I was three, a three. One story I have is I would walk.
I walked into taco bell and my buddy, one of my best friends that was with me, he, we were ordering our normal shindig of food, basically that Mexican pizza and like a bunch of tacos and big, huge 44 ounce dr. Pepper. So tons and tons of sugars, carbs and fat. Anyways, it was 303 and I still worked out. So I was a big, strong guy, like a big football player guy, but it was not, Lena was not in shape. He always, I came back to my table and talk to my buddy. We were talking about wanting to get in better shape and so on. And I went up to get my refill, my drink, and there’s a little kid there. And he said something about a fat guy, like about a five year old. And he was saying something to his dad.
And I realized that nobody else is around. He must have been referencing me. And at that point it really made me feel like, wow, I mean, I do lift way to do workout. And my whole point was is that I just felt like I did not feel like I looked good. And this kid really kind of mistaken me for a big fat guy, but basically I kind of was a big fat guy and my confidence was just killed. And so I came back to the table. I told my buddy, I said, do you really think that I’m fat? And he says, well, Charles, he says, you’re just, you know, you’re just a big bone guy. And like, I wasn’t always big boned. And so that was the beginning of me saying, I’m going to make a change. I do not feel comfortable in my skin.
And I want to lose weight and be trim and healthy. And I did already go to the Oklahoma City gyms. I had played sports, I played football, but I was way overweight. And then I am winded ended up going into fitness competitions and competing, and then becoming a fitness trainer. Number one thing that I’ve really learned is fitness in my life. When I wake up first thing in the morning and hit my workout, it keeps me focused. It kind of helps me keep me on track to be more productive for the day. And so number one is keeping me focused a number two component. It improves my immune system. I really do feel like when I work out regularly and sweat and workout and get all the bad stuff out and eat a lot of healthy stuff and work out on a regular basis, I rarely ever get sick or sick for very long. And especially during all of this COVID thing that’s been going out and about, I do believe that actually believe that I had it back in like February and I got over it and about a week to week and a half, and I didn’t even know I had it, but I, after hearing about the symptoms and going through all of the stuff and talking to a doctor, I clearly had all of those symptoms, but my body, just my immune system, just, just incinerated it and went right, right through it.
And didn’t even know I ended up having to go get tested. So, I mean, I don’t know for sure if I had it or not, but I, after talking to a doctor, he highly thinks I did have it with my health and I, and I just, it didn’t phase me. So you want to make sure your immune system is strong and multiple studies. I’ve got eight national certifications as a trainer. Talk about how fitness helps improve your immune system so that you can stay healthy. Number three when you’re working out and exercising on a regular basis, your three to six full depends on what stage you’re looking at to stay away from doctors. There’s hormones that are released, same thing you get from like eating food and sex and things like that. There’s hormones that are released when you exercise. And so people can actually get addicted and like exercises where those good addictions to get. So, and it will help your mental health state.
A lot of times I have a bad attitude to go and work out. After my workouts over, I feel like a million bucks. My hormones, my by the serotonin, the dopamine hormones in my body are firing. I feel better about myself. I feel confident. I feel comfortable in my own skin again. So it is a huge pick me up for mental health. And number six is improve daily food habits, improve daily food habits. When you’re exercising, you’re more mindful for the things that you’re eating and you’re more intentional on eating healthier. I have noticed with me and my clients and everyone around me, people that are intentionally exercising intentionally are eating better. So that’s another thing that’s going to improve your life, which is going to transfer to being thinner and leaner and more toned. You’re going to feel comfortable and confident in your skin and in your clothes.
That’s where I want you to be. That’s my highest desire. So yeah, but number six is it improves your daily food habits. Number seven, improves your motivation to work out. A lot of people when they miss working out, then they really start. I’ve seen a lot. So the more that you stay with a fitness routine, your motivation stays high. So yeah, things in motion stay in motion. So if you keep working out like every day, do a workout every day, you will stick on your daily routines a lot better. So I talk about in a previous podcast to, to have a set morning routine and I highly encouraged people to get that workout in that set morning routine. That way you always checked that box, your middle motivation’s high, you’re staying focused, you’re hitting all these benefits. And you’re, you’re basically, you’re motivated to do it again the next day, the next day, next day.
